Social media post preview and character counter
Write one caption and see how it reads on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile and Bluesky, with each platform's character limit and "more" cutoff.
Limits as of 2026. Post limits: Instagram about 2,200 characters and 30 hashtags, Facebook about 63,206, LinkedIn about 3,000, Google Business Profile 1,500, Bluesky 300. Sources: Google Business Profile and Bluesky publish these limits in their own documentation. The Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn figures come from those platforms' help pages but were not re-checked when this tool was built, so the tool marks them approximate. Counts use visible characters (an emoji counts as one); platforms may count some characters differently. The "more" cutoffs (Instagram about 125, LinkedIn about 210, Facebook about 477) are approximate because the platforms change them by device and do not publish exact numbers. Check the platform before relying on a number for anything important.
How to use it
- Paste or type your caption in the box.
- Check each card: the count turns red when you are over that platform's limit.
- Where a card shows a "more" link, anything after it is hidden until a reader taps. Move your hook above it.
- Copy your caption back out and post it.

How long can an Instagram caption be?
About 2,200 characters and 30 hashtags, per Instagram's help pages (approximate, not re-checked for this tool). Only roughly the first 125 characters show in the feed before the "more" link, so put the hook first.
What is the Bluesky character limit?
A Bluesky post can be 300 characters (graphemes). Emoji and flags count as one each, which is how this counter works too.
What is the Google Business Profile post limit?
Posts can be up to 1,500 characters. Keep the useful part and the call to action near the start.
How many characters does LinkedIn show before "see more"?
About 210 characters on mobile and a little more on desktop. LinkedIn does not publish an exact number, so treat it as approximate. Posts can run to 3,000 characters.
Why do emoji count differently here?
Many tools count UTF-16 code units, so a flag or a family emoji can count as 4 to 11. This tool counts what a reader sees, one symbol as one character.
Does this tool store or send my text?
No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded or saved.
